Mahmood Rashid, PhD

Dr. Rashid is a Lecturer in the School of Computing, Information and Mathematical Sciences at the USP Laucala Campus. He joined USP as a Fellow and then promoted to Lecturer. He is a former Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Computer and Information Science at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth (UMassd) , Massachusetts, USA.

He received the PhD degree in computer science from Griffith University, Brisbane, QLD, Australia in 2014 majoring Artificial Intelligence. He was a Graduate Researcher at NICTA (now data61) Queensland Research Laboratory (QRL) as a NICTA Scholar during his PhD study. He earned the Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BUET) and Master of Science in Computer Science degrees from Bangladesh.

His research focuses on

Dr. Rashid spent several years (2000 – 2009) in the information technology industries as an IT specialist. As an  IT Team Manager (Consultant) of Maxwell Stamp PLC, UK, he worked in a multi-million dollar project (RIRA Project)—jointly funded by the World Bank and the Department for International Development (DFID) to reform the National Board of Revenue, Bangladesh.
