    The next research seminar takes place on 28/04/15, at the ICT conference room, from 16-17, as usual (light refreshment served at 15:45). Speaker: Dr. Rohitash Chandra Title: “Competitive Cooperative  Neuro-Evolution with Applications in Time Series Prediction for Climate Change and Energy” Abstract: Cooperative co-evolution  is a nature-inspired optimization method that divides a problem into sub-components and been used for neuro-evolution.   It employs different problem decomposition methods to decompose the neural network training problem into sub-components.

    It is my pleasure to announce that the next Research Seminar sessions, on Tuesday 03/03 at the ICT conference room 1 (Japan-Pacific Building B) from 16:00 to 17:30, is combined with the event of a book launch. The recent Springer publication “A Primer on Hilbert Space Theory”, by Prof. Carlo Alabiso (Parma University, Italy) and Dr. Ittay Weiss (SCIMS, USP) will be presented to the USP and larger Fiji community by distinguished guests and the local author of the book.

    Towards Scalable Information Sensemaking

    The first contributed talk for this semester is by Prof. Vladimir Zadorozhny , visiting professor from the University of Pittsburgh. Title: Towards Scalable Information Sensemaking Abstract: I will consider how concepts of data fusion and crowdsourcing complement each other and accelerate novel advanced research directions in scalable information sensemaking.  I will elaborate on each of those concepts and explore their synergy under prominent scenarios of large-scale historical data integration and situation assessment in multi-robot search and rescue missions.
