    Book Launch: A Primer on Hilbert Space Theory

    The recent Springer publication “A Primer on Hilbert Space Theory”, by Prof. Carlo Alabiso (Parma University, Italy) and Dr. Ittay Weiss (SCIMS, USP) was presented presented today to the USP and larger Fiji community by distinguished guests and the local author of the book. USP Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research & International), Prof. John Bythell and SCIMS HOS Prof. Ansgar Fehnker congratulated Dr. Ittay Weiss for his publication. The book launch which was seen as a motivation to other researchers at the school and faculty.

    CS427 Project Presentations

    CS427 Mobile Communications students present their projects on 15th November 2014. The projects involved applying tools and techniques in mobile communications to real world problems in the South Pacific region. The projects compromised of software engineering and research projects. Dr. Nicholas Rollings from School of Geography, Earth Science and Environment  was the Chief Guest at the event who commended the project ideas that were mainly for the needs of the Pacific region.

I was born in Suva, Fiji, in 1991 and have been brought up here since.  I attended Yat Sen Primary and Secondary.  It was perhaps when I was first introduced to programming in Secondary School that I developed an interest in the field.

    CS427 Project Presentations

    Students from CS427, Mobile Communications gave their final project presentations on 14th November in Teaching Lab 3 of the  Japan-Pacific ICT Centre. The presentation was opened by  HOS, Prof Ansgar Fehnker who mentioned that similar event will be planned for the entire school next year. A short seminar on “Pacific Consciousness for Software Engineering” was given by Dr. Rohitash Chandra who is also the course  lecturer. The seminar focused on Pacific consciousness that can be used as the themes in software engineering projects at the university. The themes/topics include, climate change, environmental informatics, health informatics,  software for government departments, non-profit organsations, electronic policing and software for the preservation of pacific art and culture.
